Exercise, my drug to a happy confident me!
So I have just spent an active weekend in London broading my knowledge within the fitness industry. I did boxercise in Uxbridge and a Leadership to running course in Twickenham. I choose these two courses as I have wanted to offer more classes to my clients and doing something I enjoy doing. I do enjoy cardiovascular workouts, which gets are heart rate up and helps us to feel great after.
Boxing offers this along with a lot more.
For those long days at the office when everything has tried your patience and you’re ready to scream, get your hands on some boxing gloves and hit out that aggression.
If you're self-conscious about your arms and tummy, boxercise is a great way to achieve lovely lean muscles. Through a series of quick-paced hooks, swoops and upper cuts you target the shoulders, arms, back and core; tightening and toning with each punch. Unlike regular lifting, the intense speed of boxercise also builds endurance, sculpting muscle/burning fat faster. Along with the lower body; positioning and holding your body as you move. Alongside a tight core, the glutes and hips help balance your movements as you pivot, improving efficiency and delivery as you punch.
I thoroughly enjoyed the course and really cannot wait to get started with a boxercise class. Keep an eye out if this sounds something for you.
My Leadership to running course was next. I Love running as you all know, I get asked so many questions with regards to running and have never really researched it enough, I am a bit like Forest Gump and just go out and run. I am more interested in the coaching side of running so this is the first step towards the Coaching course. So watch out, this is next, you never know, Feel Good fitness could start up a running club?!
The point of this Blog is to say how proud I am of myself for taking myself to London and completing my courses. For you guys that know me, a few years ago I would have not have had the confidence to do this, I’m buzzing I achieved this.
For you that did not know me back then, I suffered with bad anxiety and lack of confidence, due to having seizures. I struggled with public transports and being alone or in big crowds. I truly believe my fitness journey has helped me to overcome a lot of this. I am living proof, EXERCISE HELPS with lots of areas not just losing weight!! I do feel so much more confident and do not hesitate about doing things to help myself grow as a person.
Everyone knows that regular exercise is good for the body. But exercise is also one of the most effective ways to improve your mental health and mental performance. Many individuals resort to hard work to help challenge their brain but it turns out, they might be missing out on one of the most powerful brain boosters in the world – exercise!
Exactly how exercise might boost mood isn't well understood. Some possibilities are that it:
- Helps you sleep better
- Gives you an improved sense of control, coping ability and self esteem
- Provides distraction from negative thoughts and a chance to have new experiences
- Offers an opportunity to socialise and get social support if done with others
- Changes the levels of chemicals in the brain, such as serotonin, stress hormones and endorphins (substances that can block pain and may also enhance feelings of wellbeing).
These all put together in time will make you a happier calmer person, I honestly do feel exercise has helped me to be where I am today. I love the feeling after a great workout; it does defiantly give me more energy and helps me to feel great.
So keep going with your fitness routines, give it time and benefit from the results. Go and do something for you today!
